🌟 Celebrating Our Leaders of the Month! 🌟

Last Wednesday was a standout day at MHE as we gathered to honor our newest Leaders of the Month!

These students were chosen by their teachers and specialists for consistently showing up with a positive attitude, lending a helping hand to others, and leading by example in the classroom and on the playground. While they received their official awards earlier last week, we wanted to give them one more digital "round of applause" to kick off the weekend!

Who are our Leaders?

This month, we recognized one exceptional leader from every grade level and a standout student from each of our Specialist programs.

We are incredibly proud of how these students represent our school values. They remind us all that leadership isn't just about a title—it's about the small, kind actions we take every day to make our school a better place.

Way to go, leaders! Keep shining!

We are proud to celebrate Mrs. Gerdes who was recently honored with the Triple E Award, recognizing educators who Educate, Empower, and Equip students to Excel.

Mrs. Gerdes is a strong advocate for students, consistently pushing them to be their very best while providing the support and encouragement they need to succeed. She takes time to celebrate student accomplishments, big and small, helping students build confidence and pride in their learning.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Gerdes works tirelessly to support fellow staff members and contribute to the building as a whole. Her dedication, leadership, and positive impact make a difference for students, colleagues, and our entire school community. We are grateful for the passion and commitment she brings each day and are thrilled to celebrate this well deserved recognition.

Playground Update

Something New is Climbing Into Our Playground!

Have you noticed something "growing" on our playground lately? We are thrilled to announce that we are currently installing brand-new equipment for our students to enjoy!

The first section of our new Climbing Dome has been officially installed. While it already looks exciting, we are currently waiting on a few final parts to arrive to ensure it is 100% complete and safe for play. For now, please remind your children to stay off the new equipment until the "Grand Opening" announcement!

This addition to our school would not be possible without the incredible support of our PTC. Because of your participation in fundraisers and school events, our students have a fun new way to stay active and build strength.

Thank you, PTC, for making our playground dreams a reality!

A Special Visit from the Farm

From Fields to the Classroom: Mrs. Parton's Kindergarten Class’s Special Guest

Our Kindergarteners had a "bushel" of fun this week! We were honored to host a very special guest—a local farmer and father of one of our Kindergarten students.

Farmer Dyer joined us for a hands-on show-and-tell session to teach the children about life on the farm. The students learned all about the two major crops grown right here in our community: soybeans and corn. They had the chance to touch the seeds and learn how they grow from tiny sprouts into the tall plants we see in the fields.

The Highlight of the Day: After the classroom presentation, the students headed outside for a huge surprise. FarmerDyer brought his tractor to school! The kids loved seeing the massive wheels up close and learning how the machinery helps farmers do their important work.

A huge thank you to the Dyer family for sharing their time and expertise with us. It was a wonderful way to connect our students to the world around them!

Spelling Bee Success!

Our Students are "B-E-E-Y-O-N-D" Amazing!

The competition was fierce, and the focus was sharp at our annual 4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee! We are so proud of all our students who stepped up to the microphone to showcase their hard work and spelling skills.

How the Competition Worked

The journey to the trophy started in the individual classrooms, where 4th and 5th-graders competed against their peers. The top two students from each class earned the honor of moving on to the final round to face off against one another on the big stage.

It was an impressive display of sportsmanship and concentration as our finalists tackled some truly challenging words. After several nail-biting rounds, we are excited to announce our winners:

  • First Place Champion: Shanaya Nath

  • 2nd Place Runner-Up / Alternate: Kezia Taylor

  • 3rd Place: Delaney Dunn

Our first-place champion moves on to the next round to compete at the District Level. Our runner-up will serve as the alternate to represent our school in the event that our champion is unable to attend the next level of competition.

Congratulations to our winners and to every student who participated! You all represented Mount Hope Elementary with excellence.

Farrah and Harper came to Mrs. Carter with an idea to help make our Sharpen the Saw dismissal even better!

They suggested getting lanyards for all of the students to create badges with their Sharpen the Saw group name. This is so kids can remember their groups and dismiss faster, so we have more fun with your group!

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Muenks for earning the District's Triple E award!

Each month, Superintendent Dr. St. Pierre presents the Triple E Impact Award to staff who exemplify our mission to Educate, Empower, and Equip to Excel. This month, MHE is proud to celebrate Kristine Ryan and Nicole Muenks.

Mrs. Ryan, our recess clerk, even adjusted her work schedule to provide extra support and intervention for kindergarten students, showing exceptional dedication to their success.

Mrs. Muenks, a 3rd-grade teacher, consistently models grit, a growth mindset, and a commitment to doing what’s best for students. She embraces the new curriculum with fidelity, seeks support for students when needed, and is always willing to try new strategies to help her students excel.

We are grateful for their leadership and positive impact on our school community!
