A local robotics team qualified for the FIRST Championships, an international robotics competition, after excelling at the Missouri-Kansas Regional Championship in early March. Sponsored by Qualcomm, the FIRST Championship took place April 16-19 in Houston. Force Green, a team made up of several St. Louis area middle school and high school students earned their spot by winning the prestigious Inspire Award for the MO/KS region, recognizing their excellence in competition, teamwork, and outreach. They again showcased their skills at the FIRST Championships in Houston by winning the Design Award for their division, and placing within the top 40 of their division.
West High's Nikhil Amin is part of this amazing team, along with other students in the area include Daniel Carrillo, Ayden Church, Sneha Deo, Tejus Krishnan, Anshu Rajoli, Akshaj Kommepalli, Declan Flaherty, Ryan Palmquist, Satvik Das, and Nitya Bollam.
Nikhil Amin said, "Every bit that can be 3d printed, they made it happen.. Judges were impressed not just by design of the robot but also the design of their process. This team is a force to be reckoned with, they gave the judges the green light for their overall reliability and industrial elements. It shows our innovation!”
